On the traces of Martin Luther (7 days / 6 nights)

Day 1: Arrival at Munich airport. From there transfer to Augsburg. Here in the Augsburg parliament Martin Luther was in opposition of the Catholic Inquisition and the Roman Emperor of German Nation from the 12th to 14th October 1518. You will get a guided city tour of the more than 2000 year old town which is one of the three oldest towns in Germany along with Trier and Kempten as well as the third largest town in Bavaria. The first day will be rounded off with a 3-course-dinner and overnight in a 4****star hotel in Augsburg.

Day 2: You will leave Augsburg and the route takes you through the Romantic Road to Wuerzburg. On the way you get the opportunity to visit the town Rothenburg ob der Tauber, whose medieval townscape is world famous. During a 2hours city tour in the alleys of town with great views above the lovely Tauber valley you can take your lunch (individually). Afterwards you continue the trip to the destination of the second day: Wuerzburg. This is the place where the counter reform had its resounding success after Luther's death. Here as well you will get a 2hours guided tour.
You spend the night in a 4****star hotel in Wuerzburg where you also get served a 3-course-menu in the evening.

Day 3: From Wuerzburg the journey continues on Luther's traces - to Eisleben where Luther's birthplace and last residence can be found. After a lunch in Eisleben the trip continues to Lutherstadt Wittenberg. It is here, where Martin Luther published his 95 theses against the abuse of the selling of indulgences in 1517 (31st October). With this          event the reformation in Germany started. Accommodation in Wittenberg will be at 4****star hotel with an exclusive 3 course dinner included.

Day 4:  Your day in Wittenberg starts with an extensive 2h walkabout through town, continuing with a 2h visit of the Luther museum. After this cultural experience you have the opportunity for taking your lunch and to explore the famous churches in Wittenberg individually: The "Stadtkirche St. Marien" is the initial point of the Lutheran reformation and the church where Luther was preaching sermons; it was in the castle church "Allerheiligen" that, according to historical sources, Luther posted his 95 theses at the door of the main portal on 31st October 1517.
In the evening you might have the possibility to visit an event (music) in one of the churches or the "Cranach courts".
Accommodation in Wittenberg will be in a 4****star hotel, which offers you also a 3-course-dinner.

Day 5: You leave Wittenberg for Erfurt - the town where Luther studied and where he became a friar. You take part in a 2h visit of the Old Town of Erfurt, including a visit of the cathedral and the Severin church. Afterwards you have time for your own   disposal, where you can take your lunch and enjoy the atmosphere of town. You stay the night in a 4****star hotel in Erfurt with a 3-course menu included in the evening.

Day 6: From Erfurt your trip goes back to Eisenach once more, where you take part in a 1h guided tour of the Wartburg castle. In the bailiwick of the Wartburg castle Luther hided in 1521 as he was outlawed by the emperor and averted by the pope.
After the visit of the castle you have time to take your lunch individually before your journey continues to Marburg. It was here that the first protestant university was found in 1527 and where the disputation between the reformers Luther, Zwingli and Melanchthon took place in 1529. You get a 3h guided tour including a visit of the Old Town and the castle of Marburg. Accomodation in Marburg is in a 4****star hotel in town where you also get served a 3-course menu.

Day 7: You will either be transferred to the Frankfurt airport or you will depart by bus via Worms.
